In shortA REST API is an application interface that gives access to resources over HTTP (with methods such as GET, POST, PUT and DELETE) and mostly uses JSON.
REST interfaces expose an application’s data and operations at resource addresses. Three things matter for integration: the authentication method, rate limits and how a failed call is retried.
If retries are used, repeating a call must be safe; otherwise the same record can be created twice. REST integrations therefore also need idempotency design.
In OPC Router projects
With the REST and SOAP plug-in OPC Router can exchange application data with approved web services.
