In shortOEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) is availability × performance × quality and shows how much of the planned production time turned into good product.
Availability says how much of the planned time the machine ran; performance says how much it produced while running compared with ideal speed; quality says how much of the output was good. Their product is OEE.
The value of OEE depends on your definitions: which stops count as planned, how the ideal cycle time is set and at which step you count scrap all change the result. OEE is therefore not a universal target but an indicator followed over time with your own definition.
The OEE calculator shows the three ratios and the loss breakdown from shift data.
In OPC Router projects
OPC Router is used to move counter, state and downtime data to the database or BI system that calculates OEE; where the calculation is done (in the workflow, an SQL view or a BI tool) is decided in the project.
Frequently asked questions
What is a good OEE value?
There is no single universal target. Fix the definitions first, then follow change over time with the same definition.
