In shortTime-series data is a sequence of measurement or event records ordered by timestamp; sensor, counter and process values are usually stored this way in industry.
In a time series each record carries a time, a value and often a quality indicator. Queries typically rely on time range, aggregation (average, minimum, maximum) and latest value.
Two times must be kept apart: when the event happened at the source and when the record was written to the store. After an outage and a buffer replay these two diverge.
SQL tables, dedicated time-series databases or historian systems can be used for time series.
In OPC Router projects
OPC Router is used to build flows that write timestamped records to InfluxDB and SQL destinations.
